HONGKOK

It might sound contradictory at first, but Hong Kong is at the heart of Asia's newest - and at the same time, its oldest - destination, the exciting and diverse pearl river Delta. Hong Kong offers a lot to the tourist and is well worth a visit. It offers the tourist more sights and attractions per sq. kms than anywhere else in the world. Chinese temples and old walled villages, to the rural scene with its farms, mountains, rivers and country parks, to the beauty of the 235 outlying islands, to the many different areas of bustling, dynamic metropolis. In terms of value, variety and services Honkong offers some of the best shopping in the world in a conveniently compact area. Hong Kong is even more dazzling at night!

HONGKOK SIGHTSEEING
HONG KOK PARK (HONG KOK ISLAND)

Hong Kong Park, tucked discreetly behind Central and the imposing Bank of China building, is one of the most charming and surprising areas in the city. This is a gorgeous and lush urban park, beautifully designed with modern fountains, bamboo and palm trees but also incorporating some fantastic colonial style buildings.

HONG KOK SPACE MUSEUM (KOWLOON)

The Hong Kong Space Museum has a fantastic location on Salisbury Road next to the Hong Kong Cultural Center and overlooking Hong Kong Island. This is a fun place, especially for kids, and there are some good high tech exhibits including a Planetarium, a Hall of Space Science and an Astronomy Hall. The highlight of the museum is the Space Theatre.

KOWLOON MOSQUE (KOWLOON)

Kowloon Mosque is the largest and most important Islamic Mosque in Hong Kong. There is a significant Muslim community in Hong Kong, most of whom live around here in Kowloon. In fact the ethnic and cultural mix of people is partly what makes Kowloon an interesting area to visit. The Mosque is an impressive pure white marble building, situated at the junction of Nathan Road and Cameron Road in Tsim Sha Tsui.

VICTORIA PARK (HONG KOK ISLAND)

Victoria Park is the largest urban park in Hong Kong. This is a vast green space, situated in the center of Causeway Bay and contains a pleasant outdoor swimming pool (HKD17) and various sports facilities. In the evening, this place fills up with romantic young couples wooing each other. A statue of Queen Victoria (originally in Statue Square in Central) stands here. Numerous football matches and tennis games take place throughout the year in the park.

WONG TAI SIN TEMPLE (KOWLOON)

The Temple is dedicated to the God, Wong Tai, who is worshipped by the ill and by business people. This place is particularly busy on Friday evenings when business men and women come to pray for the blessing of their God who they believe can turn stones into sheep and thus paper into money. The Temple is open to visitors and it is especially atmospheric around Chinese New Year. There are also many fortune tellers in this area who can predict your future, many of whom speak English.
