The most western city of China is currently undergoing a huge transformation. New buildings, skyscrapers made of glass and reflecting mirrors are being built, new hotels and restaurant open, new roads and railroads are being built. In short, the region is booming as the central Chinese government is spending huge sums to develop the region. The hilly surroundings of Urumqi with mountain lakes and impressive valleys are interesting.

The Bell Tower, is a stately traditional building, that marks the geographical center of the ancient capital. From this important landmark extend East, South, West and North Streets, connecting the Tower to the East, South, West and North Gates of the City Wall of the Ming Dynasty. The engravings on the doors of the Tower reflect the decorative fashion of Ming and Qing Dynasties, recounting popular stories of ancient China.

Tang Paradise is located in the Qujiang Resort, southeast of the Xian City, Shaanxi Province. In Tang Paradise, another surprising man-made wonder is the water film which claims to be the foremost in the whole world. The screen of the movie is a film of water; thus it can create a special kind of optical effect which makes the frame tridimensional.

The Great Mosque in Xian is one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved Islamic mosques in China and its location is northwest of the Drum Tower (Gu Lou) on Huajue Lane.In Xian, it is really well worth a trip to see the Great Mosque, not only for its centuries-old history but also for its particular design of mixed architecture - traditional Muslim and Chinese styles.

Just as its name implies, Moslem Street is the hub of the Moslem community in Xian City, Shaanxi Province. Located beside the Drum Tower, it is about 500 meters (about 547 yards) long from south to north. Some of the constructions are restaurants; while others are stores. But here there is one thing in common: the owners are all Moslems.

When Zhu Yuanzhang, the first Emperor of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), captured Huizhou, a hermit named Zhu Sheng admonished him that he should 'built high walls, store abundant food supplies and take time to be an Emperor,' so that he could fortify the city and unify the other states. The thriving trees and flowers decorate the classical Chinese architecture of the wall, adding additional beauty to the city of Xian.A nice suggestion for tourists: Try biking on the City Wall, you will have an enjoyable and interesting experience.
